
Book Marketing
I provided input and advice on creating a digital marketing strategy for Isabella’s Voyage, a debut historical fiction novel by Jemimah Wright. This would support other marketing in the form of a book tour, retail and above-the-line exposure via magazine features and an interview on American TV.
I recommended an initial strategy which laid a vital digital foundation for increasing the book’s online presence and organic exposure. It implemented the building blocks for an effective online presence in order to increase brand awareness and book sales.
I undertook research to define the book’s target market and reader persona. And informed by this I built a small author website orientated around landing pages for the book, also producing some flexible and complementary creative assets for social media.
New Author Website With Book Landing Pages
The author didn’t currently have a website, so in conversation with her I designed a new website in WordPress which prioritised the book. For the website’s branding I took inspiration from the look and feel of the book cover design, ensuring it remained recognisable and continuous. I wrote and edited the website copy in collaboration with the author. And applied SEO best practices to every part of the process; the copy and content writing, structuring, layouts and overall build. This has resulted in the website appearing on the first page of Google – within the top 6 results (number 4 in the UK) – for the search term ‘Jemimah Wright’.
Within this I also researched achievable and relevant keywords for each page, being wholly mindful of the book’s reader persona, and the website user. The goal being to attract readers, persuading them of the book’s interest and value, and to drive customers to Amazon and other online retail sites where the book is stocked. Additionally to tell the story of writing the book and to share the personal journey behind it with readers.

CREATIVE ASSETS For Social Media
In addition to building the website I made a series of social media assets to Instagram and Facebook’s specifications, which were flexible to be used across Stories, Reels and Carousels. I delivered them both as 15 second videos and static images ready to be edited together and/or composed as needed. These were designed to generate intrigue and interest in the book’s story as well as reinforce the book’s value to the reader.
